Well, it has been a little over 6 months since the last blog has been written. And man has Camp Longridge changed A LOT! Walls have been torn down, new ones have been built, and there is a new family cabin unit that is in the home stretch of being finished!

Now for the short term stuff. This past weekend we had a group in from NC. They were awesome and were a blast to hang out with. However, my favorite part of the weekend occurred Saturday morning. Saturday morning there were interviews for new staffers for the summer of 2012. It breaks my heart to know that I will not be able to return for this summer, but there is great joy in knowing that others are taking the step of faith to carry on the legacy that I, and hundreds of other staffers before me, have set up. Now if I had just a few words left in this blog, what would I say?

#1-To new staff, congrats on making one of the best decisions of your life. God is going to use Camp Longridge, the kids, and the staff to change your life if you let Him. He will give you new outlooks on things that you never thought about before, and He will challenge you to mold you into the Christian He wants you to be.
#2-If you have had any aspiration to apply and have not, IT IS NOT TOO LATE. Get your name in there. Staff are needed for summer 2012 and if you apply, you will NOT regret it!

http://www.camplongridge.org/camppapp2002/2003/instructions2003.htm

#3-Go Apply NOW!

-Super Summer Staffer Kayla Barton is 10-42 over-and-out CLR

Thirsty Thursday because it sure was a hot one! With a high of 106 here at Camp Longridge the day’s activities were extra fun! Jimmy says hey. Since this could possibly be the last blog of the summer, I don’t want to bore you guys with random banter. So here goes. The summer of 2011 has been one that I will remember for the rest of my life. I made lifelong relationships with some really awesome people! I wouldn’t trade any of them for anyone else. The memories I acquired while working this summer are some of my most cherished. Nasty Nate says hello. Naw but forreal, I have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to work here this summer. It will be a sad day when I have to say goodbye to my fellow staffers. Jason also wants to say whaddup! It has been a long eventful summer and think it will take approximately 43.675 hours of sleep to completely recover. And lastly, but most definitely not least, I want to praise the Lord for a whopping 103 decisions made this summer!!!

“I am restless, I am restless
I am restless, looking for You
I am restless, I run like the ocean to find Your shore
Looking for You”

“Wonderously whimsical Wednesday”
We wondered out of the cabins this morning toward a warm and tasty breakfast. The Rock Springs group began a day full of fun activities. WE had a wonderful time at the lake and a group went and had a FABULOUS time on the high ropes coarse. A group from First Baptist Columbia came and used the lake to have a youth day filled with lake activities and a cookout. The staff loved serving each group today and facilitating the groups so that they could fellowship together, worship the Lord, and learn about Him more. Happy Wednesday!

Good day to all you wonderful blog readers! Anna King here, a first-year staffer at this dandy place called Camp Longridge. This is the first week of not camp in a while, and today certainly has been a noteworthy day with Rock Springs Baptist. We started the day off with a hearty breakfast of grits before we got to work around camp. For lunch they enjoyed some meaty burgers after playing some kickball (RED TEAM WON!) followed by lake time and paintball! Tonight’s dinner was served by some seafaring folk, the Camp Longridge Yacht Club. They served the world renowned teriyaki chicken with MACARONI AND CHEESE! and vegetables and coconut pie. It was received very well. I thank my God for this great day and these great people!

As the summer has come to a close, we can sit back and look it in it’s entirety and smile. The staff grew closer as a family, and the smiles and laughter and tears of joy from the children made our hearts sing. From the first kids week the final week, it’s been a blast. From the shaving cream fights on the hill to the messy games to the lake time to the chapel services, I now see that all of them have one single purpose: to bring glory to God. Our official count at the end of the summer was 103 children and youth that gave their hearts to Christ through the ministry hear at Camp Longridge and that is AWESOME! I cannot wait to return to these sacred grounds next summer and continue in this ministry that God has so graciously allowed me to be a part of. As I prepare myself physically for one last week here at Camp Longridge, I am also preparing myself mentally for next summer. For the last time as part of the Super Summer Staff of 2011, I’m bringing this blog post to an end… but I will be back to serve next summer on staff here at CLR. I hope you are as prepared as I am for a super awesome fantastic amazing summer in 2012!

Howdy Everybody! it’s your ol’ pall jimmy here. Just thought i would write you to let you know what going on this terrific thursday here at camp Longridge. Our day started of with quiet time with our cabin where a staffer leads the students in a devotional thought to start the day. from there we headed to the dining hall to enjoy a hearty breakfast of oatmeal, bacon, eggs and biscuits. After breakfast we headed to the chapel to have our morning worship time and our bible drill. After that came the moment we’ve all been waiting for…. Drumroll please… THE WORLD FAMOUS CAMP LONGRIDGE SHAVING CREAM BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we had tons of fun getting covered in shaving cream. After that we headed down to clark lake to wash off and have our swim time. everyone had a blast jumping off the blob, going down the slide and zipline, and playing in our swim area. after laketime it was time to clean up then head to lunch where we had roast beef sandwich and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies mmmmmmmmmm! after that it was time for a bible study with our teams. Then we had our final day of peanut patch olympics. everyone had tons of fun going around the chapel playing all the games they could. after that we headed to dinner where we had some delicious stir fry. after dinner we headed to chapel for Mr. Frank’s message. Tonight he used some road signs as example for how we should live our lives in Christ. After chapel we headed to a canteen break then volleyball with our teams. Then to finish off the night we had a huge ice cream party in the dining hall. Wow! what a fantastic day. I could not think of a better way to finish off a week of camp. Hope everyone out there is having as much fun as we are. Later!

After that we went up to the hill to play some messy games like CHAOS!!!! It was so much fun to get all the staff messy. Then we made our way to the lake to have fun in the water or go up to the high ropes course to have fun swinging on ropes 30ft in the air. then came lunch time where we had hamburgers and french fries. Once lunch was over we went back to the chapel for team skit preparation and bible study. After bible study we had the 1st day of PEANUT PATCH!!! Then we went back to the cabins to get ready for dinner… So after dinner we had church group time where the churches talk about how the campers day was… after that we had chapel where we listened to Mr. Frank speak..then we proceeded to our last canteen break of the day, once that was finished we went to watch our movie of the week which was Veggie Tales Rack, Shack, and Benny. after the movie we went to the cabins for bedtime….. as you can tell it was a packed day.. well talk to ya next time see ya later
