Bittersweet Friday!

Date June 3, 2011

So this week has come and gone faster than we have had the ability to comprehend. We had our first retreat of the Summer, they came all the way from Snellville, GA! They were an amazing group of people! We had the honor to serve and facilitate for them during their stay. We served all of the meals, and ran the lake activities and ropes course. Everyone had a turn on meals and different jobs. It was loads of fun! So this morning we served them their last meal for the week, made them bagged lunches and sent them on their way. (Here’s where the bittersweet part comes in!) So the bitter part is watching our new friends depart, but the sweet part was having them here and watching God work with their group. (**Last night four members of their gang were baptized right here in Clark Lake!!!**) It was fa nominal! We’ve cleaned the cabins, lodge, dinning hall, and Chapel, doing walk-throughs, then we’re on our way to the weekend!!!

God Bless!

Thunderous Thursday!

Date June 3, 2011

Hey It’s Old Gregg here to let the world know about our awesome Thunderous Thursday! Today my main job was blob tower and let the records show that it was hot hot hot! Congratulations to Savannah from the retreat group from Georgia for being the highest blobbee! In other news, tonight we had our last dinner with the group and I pride myself in remembering many of their names. From what I could tell they were all enjoying themselves thoroughly and very excited to be here. I will be sad to see them all leave tomorrow but I’m also very excited to meet the new group for next week! Everyone is very tired but pressing on to the weekend! I’d like to give a shout out to my good friend Amy King for getting a job as a teacher!! GO AMY! Also, Anna King for graduating this week and Brianna Meeler’s birthday is on Friday! Well that’s it for now but stay tuned readers for another exciting week next week!

Tangled Tuesday!

Date June 3, 2011

Hey it’s Bethany! And I am here to tell you about this past Tuesday. We had our first retreat this week and boy was it crazy the first day. Nobody really knew what to do so we all just kinda went with the flow of things. There were 120 students here to use the facility and we served all meals to them as well as lifeguard and facilitate the ropes course. I got to serve all of the meals and was named the desert girl for the week (brownie? Pie?). They were all really great and even though the first day was a little confusing, the rest of the week turned out WONDERFUL!
See ya!!
Bethany :)

Staffers in the jungle

Date May 25, 2011

Hello everyone, I’m Logan and this is my first year here as staffer. I’m so excited about this summer and all of the great activities that are in store for you! This week I have been in training for facilitating the ropes course here. It has been such a wonderful learning experience especially since I’ve never seen or placed my feet on a challenge course. The things that I’ve learned so far will be things that I can keep with me for life. I got to play around a little up on the ropes today and test out just exactly what the trainers have been teaching me. I can’t wait to help you experience the things that I have today! I also got to swing 3 times today..fearless is the key! As the days are getting closer, my heart smiles more and more because I am so pumped about meeting each of you this summer!

Happy Wednesday :)

A Wonderful Wednesday

Date May 25, 2011

Hello everyone! My name is Bethany Byrd. I am a first year staffer and today has been SO awesome here at Camp Longridge! This week all the new staffers have been going through ropes course training and yes, that means we all are learning to both hang from ropes really high off of the ground as well as teach kids to hang from ropes really high off of the ground. We have learned so much over the span of two days! Today, we got to play around on the course and MAN was it fun! At first sight, the course seems very intimidating, but once we all got through it, we didn’t even realize how many feet off the ground we were! I cannot wait to have the campers here!! HURRY UP GUYS!!!

Can’t WAIT to see everyone!
Bethany :)

Wonderful Preparations

Date May 24, 2011

Hello Blog readers! This is Jason, a 3rd year staffer here at camp! We’re literally so excited for this summer we’re already preparing our camp grounds for all you campers our there! We’ve been cutting grass, painting a bunch of stuff, digging a few ditches, preparing bible studies and much more. Today, my day started off with a fun truck ride through camp with some of my good friends and fellow staffers Jimmy, James, and Amber. We delivered a few things to other staff and did a little work of out own. After that, Ryan and I started painting the bathrooms in our cabins. We were later joined by Bri and were able to finished all of our painting a little after lunch time.

Hope to see you all real soon!

Open House 2011!!

Date May 24, 2011

Hello, I am Ryan Langlois, a new staffer here at Camp Longridge. This past Saturday, May 21st, we had our first annual Open House. At this event we had a Staff Alumni brunch where the former staffers of Longridge had united together with the current staffers and old friends.
At open house we had opened the entire camp ground to people of the community and to friends who have been to Longridge before. We had a great turn out, so many people showed up to view the camp and what has been done in the previous week. At open house we opened up all the FUN activities, from the Blob to the Rock Wall. With all the activities going on we also provided lunch for all who showed up.
Open House was a great way for the Longridge staff and administrators to open up the grounds to show everyone what Longridge is about. The Longridge Staff had a blast working with all the children and adults who came through to visit the camp. We here at Longridge are getting excited to see all of you in the coming weeks.

Hope to see all of you guys soon,
Ryan
