Thirsty Thursday!

Date August 4, 2011

Thirsty Thursday because it sure was a hot one! With a high of 106 here at Camp Longridge the day’s activities were extra fun! Jimmy says hey. Since this could possibly be the last blog of the summer, I don’t want to bore you guys with random banter. So here goes. The summer of 2011 has been one that I will remember for the rest of my life. I made lifelong relationships with some really awesome people! I wouldn’t trade any of them for anyone else. The memories I acquired while working this summer are some of my most cherished. Nasty Nate says hello. Naw but forreal, I have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to work here this summer. It will be a sad day when I have to say goodbye to my fellow staffers. Jason also wants to say whaddup! It has been a long eventful summer and think it will take approximately 43.675 hours of sleep to completely recover. And lastly, but most definitely not least, I want to praise the Lord for a whopping 103 decisions made this summer!!!

I am restless, I run like the ocean to find Your shore
Looking for You”

“Wonderously whimsical Wednesday”
We wondered out of the cabins this morning toward a warm and tasty breakfast. The Rock Springs group began a day full of fun activities. WE had a wonderful time at the lake and a group went and had a FABULOUS time on the high ropes coarse. A group from First Baptist Columbia came and used the lake to have a youth day filled with lake activities and a cookout. The staff loved serving each group today and facilitating the groups so that they could fellowship together, worship the Lord, and learn about Him more. Happy Wednesday!

TENAYSHUS TOOSDAY TENDANCIES TOWARDS TERRRRIFIC TYMES

Date August 2, 2011

Good day to all you wonderful blog readers! Anna King here, a first-year staffer at this dandy place called Camp Longridge. This is the first week of not camp in a while, and today certainly has been a noteworthy day with Rock Springs Baptist. We started the day off with a hearty breakfast of grits before we got to work around camp. For lunch they enjoyed some meaty burgers after playing some kickball (RED TEAM WON!) followed by lake time and paintball! Tonight’s dinner was served by some seafaring folk, the Camp Longridge Yacht Club. They served the world renowned teriyaki chicken with MACARONI AND CHEESE! and vegetables and coconut pie. It was received very well. I thank my God for this great day and these great people!

As the summer has come to a close, we can sit back and look it in it’s entirety and smile. The staff grew closer as a family, and the smiles and laughter and tears of joy from the children made our hearts sing. From the first kids week the final week, it’s been a blast. From the shaving cream fights on the hill to the messy games to the lake time to the chapel services, I now see that all of them have one single purpose: to bring glory to God. Our official count at the end of the summer was 103 children and youth that gave their hearts to Christ through the ministry hear at Camp Longridge and that is AWESOME! I cannot wait to return to these sacred grounds next summer and continue in this ministry that God has so graciously allowed me to be a part of. As I prepare myself physically for one last week here at Camp Longridge, I am also preparing myself mentally for next summer. For the last time as part of the Super Summer Staff of 2011, I’m bringing this blog post to an end… but I will be back to serve next summer on staff here at CLR. I hope you are as prepared as I am for a super awesome fantastic amazing summer in 2012!

Hey guys! Jordan here reporting from Camp Longridge! Kids Week 3 was absolutely amazing! So amazing things happened this week and it was all for God’s glory! It was sad to see everyone leave, but I know that so many young campers went home with so much more knowledge of the Bible and the true meaning of being a Christian. We had so many great memories that were made from the lake time to Bible studies to the awesome chapel services at night. Today at camp we woke up and had breakfast, then headed to the chapel for quiet time and praise gathering! We had our final bible drill and our final team activites! All of the campers got to pack up their things to head home then we had our super duper awards ceremony! The Blue team won the spirit flag for the week and the Green team won the Camp Champ for the week! This week was incredible and I am still amazed at the great work that God is doing at Camp Longridge! Goodbye for now!

Hey guys! My name is Bethany! We have had a marvelous week here at camp longridge. Yesterday the kids got to experience chaos. Chaos is when the teams get together and get the staffers SUPER messy! I don’t think there was a child here without a smile on their face! Lake time went well and so did bible study, ropes course, and the other aspects of camp! This morning we had an awesome breakfast! Praise Gathering was great as well. The campers are really starting to get into all of our songs! I’m so pumped to see what the rest of the week holds!
See You SOON!
Bethany :)
