Welcome to the Camp Longridge Staff Blog

A fabulous end to a fantastic week!

Date June 26, 2009

On this beautiful Friday morning, the campers and staff awoke to the warm sun shining bright in the clear sky. We started the day off with our final breakfast together. We all enjoyed spending time together around the tables enjoying buscuits and gravy and cereal. After breakfast we headed to the chapel for praise gathering. The band led the campers, leaders, and staff in worship and Mr. Frank shared a devotion. Following the time in the chapel, we enjoyed our last canteen break together and the campers enjoyed the time playing vollyball and spending time together. After canteen, we divided into our cabins and the campers packed their bags and made the most of the last few monents with their cabin mates and staffers. The campers then gathered at team tables for the final team activity. Cheering and laughing together, the campers participated in the collection extravaganza. To bring the week to a close, everyone met together in the chapel for lunch and the awards ceremony. The campers received ribbons from the cabin staffers for participating in the peanut patch olympics. Each staffer then presented the awards for each peanut patch game. The campers all played a lot of games and earned many points for their teams. The awards were presented for the girl and boy camp champs. The winners are the girl and boy who participated in the most peanut patch activities. As a new part of the awards ceremony, the reserve champion award was presented to two outstanding leaders. To end the ceremony, Mr. Frank announced Green team as the winners for the week. The band played the theme song one more time and everyone had a blast singing along. It was a fabulous end to a fantastinc week and we will miss all the wonderful boys and girls we got to spend time with this week!

Majestic Monday!

Date June 24, 2009

Yesterday, Sunday, the staff arrived at camp very excited about getting the camp ready for your arrival today. This morning we worked in joyful spirits to make the camp grounds as ready as possible. When the first campers arrived, I could not help but smile continually from the joy of having campers back on the camp grounds. My job during registration is to collect and record all the medicine. After all the medicine was collected, I was to move on to my next job for the day, the Bullet! For those of you who do not know, the Bullet is our water slide at the lake. My job was to be in the water at the bottom, letting the person know at the top when it was safe to send the next camper down. There were MANY smiling faces from the excitement of the Bullet. Monday night finished up with two games of volleyball; the Red Team and the Blue Team were the winners! GO BLUE!!!! After all long and exciting day for the staffers and campers, I am headed to bed. I hope to get much sleep. I look forward to meeting all of you in the next few weeks to come.
God bless you! Love,
Andrea

Fabulous Friday

Date June 21, 2009

When the kids woke up today we all headed to the dining hall for some great biscuits and gravy. Then after we finished breakfast we all headed to the chapel for our last talk with Mr. Frank. Afterwards, we had our last canteen break where the kids played volleyball. Then we went back to our cabins where the kids packed up and cleaned up. Once we had finished, the kids all went to their team tables for our last team activity, which is clean up camp. We had a great time cheering and doing the last activity together. Once we had finished our activity, we went to the chapel for our last meal together. As we ate, we watched a slideshow of all the pictures that had been taken through out the week. After we had lunch, we gave out participation awards and peanut patch awards. Then the winning team was announced, which was the RED TEAM! We finished the the week with the theme song for the summer and said good-bye to all the kids. This week was an amazing week and we hope to see ya’ll soon!

excellent wednesday

Date June 18, 2009

What a fun wednesday! high ropes courses were going all day, and lots of campers could be heard swinging off of the treehouse. Also, chaos was crazy today! campers covered staffers in icecream, shaving cream, and made us eat babyfood! Chapel time was great as always, with the praise team leading worship and Frank delivering a message that brought some campers to Christ!

Yet another awesome tuesday!

Date June 18, 2009

Only our second day at camp and everyone’s already having so
much fun. We all went out to the low ropes course and everyone did great learning to work as a team. This evening we had a wonderful time in chapel worshipping. Josh, Justin, and Ian sang about Fred the Flying Squirel. I played a drum solo. Then Ian followed up with a jam on the keyboard. And Justin blew us away with his wonderful vocal solo. We all sang “Lean on Me” as well as more worship songs. And, of course, Scott played his bag pipes. Always a treat.

Amazing week so far

Date June 18, 2009

This has been an amazing week at camp. It is Thursday and the students are currently on the hill having a blast with the shaving cream fight. However that is not the only great thing that has happened this week.

Monday the kids arrived and began trying things out at the lake. There have been many trips down the slide, zipline, and blob so far this week. I think some students are working on setting a record on how many times they can be blobbed or go down the slide.

Chapel services have been wonderful. The praise band sounds great and has really done a great job at leading the camp in worship time. This week Mr. Frank has talked about several different topics during his sermons. He talked to us about being a christian. He went through the fruits of the spirit. Then in the cabins we got to review the sermon with a ball game talking about the fruits of the spirit.

We have had a great week, and we still have more amazing things to tell you about in our next blog. Get ready to hear more about the great week we are having.

TREMENDOUS THURSDAY

Date June 14, 2009

Today was another tremendous day at camp we had some tremendous activites. We had morning worship service and peanut patch olympics. Then we had a tremendous playoff peanut patch to see who the winners are for each event. Next we had a tremendous final lake time, where the campers got to blob, zip, bullet and canoe for one last time. Then we had our last dinner together and off to our last worship service. After that we had some tremendous ice cream and then to the canteen so they could get one last snack before bed. This was the last night for us in the cabin with the kids so we had a lot of fun in the cabin.

Fantastic Friday

Date June 14, 2009

Today was our last day of camp with this group of students here at Longridge. We woke up and got to have our final breakfast and quiet time together with Mr. Frank in the dining hall. After quiet time, we all moved to the team tables for our final team activity with the Game Master, Josh. We got to earn some last minute points for our teams as we worked together to clean up the camp. After the activity was over, we all moved into the chapel where we ate bagged lunches and watched a memorable and entertaining slideshow of pictures from the entire week. Parents and families had come to lunch and the awards ceremony to see their campers receive awards for Peanut Patch olympics and Team Activities. We handed out awards & found out that the GREEN TEAM won this week! Everyone did an AMAZING job with participation this week and we had many campers who took part in every Peanut Patch game that we have here at CLR. After the awards ceremony, it was time to say our final goodbyes to everyone and to watch as the vans pulled away. All of us had an incredible week here and we loved hanging out and worshiping with the campers this week. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer is going to be like and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next group of campers! Can’t wait to see y’all at camp!
