Marvelous Monday

Today was amazing!! The staff rose early with anticipation for the campers to arrive. We finished the touch ups to make sure everything was perfect right before lunch! We all made sure that we had everything in order in the cabins and the grounds, then we took staff pictures for the camp website (you should seriously go look at them!!).
We hurried to our positions for registration, and waited with great hope for the first week of campers to arrive! If you think your children were excited, you should have seen the staff! Registration flew by, as they headed to meet their team leaders and then unpack in their own cabins. Then they headed to an afternoon of fun at the lake, after the swim tests of course. Campers and staffers alike had fun on the slide, the blob, the canoes, and just the lake in general. You couldn’t have asked for anything better!
Then we headed to play team activities before dinner started! We did team cheer offs- using words like pothole and dijerido, sidewalk-chalk bible stories, and waterballoon tosses! The teams worked great together, and couldn’t wait for volley ball after chapel! Chapel was after dinner, where the children heard Mr. Frank talk about a few of the charcteristics of a Christian: secure, saved, singing, and a few more.
Then it was time for the first round of the big-ball-volleyball tournament. Green v. Orange and Red v. Blue. It is easy to say that Green and Red teams will be facing each other this Thursday night in our play-offs. We then built a model of South Carolina in the sand. Each team was completely creative by using flip-flops, pinecones, canteen cups, pinestraw, and oh so much more. It was an amazing first day, which can only lead to an even better second day!
