The Longridge Latte

Date July 8, 2008

Hey to all you blog readers,

Today was a day filled with many exciting, adventurous activities that not only stretched our bodies; but also stretched our minds. Andrea Houtman and I (Josh) took the campers this morning for some early morning yogalaties at 6:30. There we stretched our muscles and prepared our minds for the day ahead. (Breakfast was great as usaual.) In the morning Chapel service (which was lead by the staff) we challenged the youth to go back home after camp and reach out to the needy the way that Jesus did. After chapel we broke into our small groups we’re we challenged and interacted with each other about God and the kingdom of heaven. Following our group meeting, we headed up to the hill for some very amusing games. The campers got to have fun by decorating the staffers in many ways including: face paint, shaving cream, water ballons, and good old fashioned buckets of water. The next activity was filling up a bucket of water using the entire teams as a human hose. Each team had to fill up a bucket of water by passing water from one cup to the next. The catch was that they could only use a cup and scott decided to mix things up a little by placing many of the different team members in odd positions. In case you were wondering the red team won this game. Next, was another wonderful meal prepared by our amazing kitchen staff. After lunch we had a small group session then, down to the lake for loads and loads of fun. Lake time was full of blobbing and sliding and zipping and swimming. Following supper (which again was AMAZING) we met with small groups and then prepped for worship. The chapel service was great from the music to the message were mark shared how Jesus said whatever we do to the least of these, we do to him. He shared the story of the Samaritan who helped the man who had been robbed and beaten and how we need to be neighbors to everyone. Then came the Longridge Latte which was full of some amazing talented people. There were many different skits and songs and talents shared tonight, and of course hearts were touched. Now it is time to go now and get some rest to begin another fantastically wonderful day.

Josh
