Thrilling First Day

Date June 9, 2008

Today was our first offical day of camp, and it was completely thrilling!!! Some of the guy staff woke up early to finish the registration video.  Then the rest of us woke up bright eyed to finish last minute touch ups for the rest of camp, as the time ticked away until the campers arrived.  As the time approached, the staff spent one last meal alone, we were excited about what the day would bring.  Soon we all headed to our stations for registration: some to greet the anxious campers, some to be at the team tables, some to play with the children as they were waiting for the lake to open.  After registration was over, we all headed down to the lake to begin lake tests.  With the test quickly underway, we opened the lake to the campers to swim, slide, and use the blob.  With great anticipation, the line for the blob grew, as well did the line for the slide.   When the lake closed, children went with great excitement to their cabins to change before going to their first team activity.  We did the bean-bag-bash, which was greated with excitement from all teams.  Then we went to an amazing dinner, before we headed to chapel.  The praise band played, awesomely I might add, before Mr.Frank spoke about the four bases: salvation, baptism, service, and heaven.  Then we went to play round of volley ball which the orange and green teams won.  Then we all headed to our cabins to do devotions with our campers, and send them to bed on their first night away from home for the week.

I am excited about sharing Christ with these children, and the ability to have an impact on their lives.  I also have to say, I am amazed at these children and cannot wait to see what else they will teach me the rest of this week and the weeks to come.
