in the eyes of the "mohawk boy"
June 24, 2005
I can’t believe they have allowed me to post a blog entry. This new level of responsibility is exasperating. On a more serious note, believe it or not, I must say that this was no common friday at Camp Longridge. Today was the first friday of our first youth week. Like most fridays I began the day with a little vocal exercise using the lyrics to “Rise and Shine and Give God the Glory Glory.” The kids find it to be rather annoying really early in the morning, but for some reason they seemed somewhat less aggitated. I believe that this week the staff has found a bond between the kids not merely as staffers, but also their friends. I actually began to miss these guys when they left today. We had our last SONRISE morning worship this morning and all of the youth were getting into the music and dancing around. As the week is summed up in a crammed morning, it feels like it is going by too fast to feel emotional, but now that they are gone it feels empty and quiet here at CLR!! Overall, the week was a great success much like any other week that God is a part of. It was amazing, in recapping the weeks events and decisions, how amazing God really is. Kids that have never met before brought together into a family. Friendships made that will last a lifetime. Most importantly, kids experiencing first hand God’s love for them and His desire to see them seeing Him.
